School is back in full swing, and I find myself running out of steam by the end of the week. Monday comes, and I am ready. I am ready to take on the week, and I start to approach my tasks with a “Regret Nothing, Try Them All” mindset…and then it gets to be Wednesday, Thursday, and by Friday, I am ready for an all day nap. Can anyone relate? I am sure that I am not the only busy mom out there, who is ready to sleep all weekend long! I am a routine oriented person, so it is a MUST for me that I am set for the week, with everything clearly laid out in front of me. Today, I want to share 5 Tips for a Seamless Routine for Busy Moms. Not only is a morning routine crucial, but also a routine in general! What do you think?
Rise. First, you have to get out of bed, right? To be successful at the beginning of the day, I find it necessary to avoid the “snooze” button on my alarm. I get up well before my children do, and that makes me feel more relaxed and not so rushed. When they come downstairs to get ready for school, I have had my breakfast and perhaps I have even thrown in a load of laundry. However, these things can’t happen if I don’t get out of bed. So first things first, get up right away and rise to start the day.
Refresh. To start my routine, I take care of simple things. I wash my face, brush my hair, and get dressed. If I do not have plans for the gym that day, I shower right away. Also, making the bed makes everything look better. So before I head downstairs, I straighten up the bed and put away any clothes from the day before. I also let in the light and fresh air, opening our curtains and cracking the windows in our room. I feel refreshed and ready to get going with the day and more presentable when I go downstairs. It is so easy to get distracted with things, and forget to take care of myself. If I allow time to do it right away in the morning, I don’t have to worry about it.
Focus. Even though I love a good routine and look ahead a few days into the week, I take some time on Sunday night to focus on the next few days ahead. I cut up fruit for my daughter’s lunch and package it in the refrigerator. I also stock the refrigerator with vitaminwater and vitaminwater zero so the twins have easy access to it. They like to take it for band practice, and I keep plenty on hand to hydrate them while they are at school. They love the Fruit Punch flavor, so we keep plenty of that available. I also set out any meat or food from the freezer that I will need for dinners for the next few nights. Menu planning is absolutely key to having a seamless routine. It takes SO much stress out of the day.
Go-Go. I set aside at least three days to workout. And, I make the time right away in the morning. As soon as my daughter is dropped off at school, I make my way to the gym. I also try to combine my gym visit with errands. It makes me feel so much more efficient if I can work in a stop at Giant Eagle AND the gym in one morning. Since I am a work at home mom, time to work is precious. So I set my sights on at least three days to workout, which helps me plan the rest of my time accordingly. Since I am often pressed for time, having vitaminwater in Tropical Citrus and Focus, and vitaminwater zero in Strawberry Lemonade and Mixed Berry on hand is not only beneficial for when we are running out the door, but also when I am working at home and need the hydration and benefits of it to get my work done.
Revive. Every afternoon, I start to feel the drag. You know how you want to focus on your task, but you just can’t? So you absentmindedly start checking social media, or planning your next project, or get the urge to nap? I take time every afternoon to get up and stretch, maybe walk around the house, unload the dishwasher, or complete one household task. This sets my mind and revives me for the remainder of the afternoon. I need that hydration for an active lifestyle, whether it is exercising my body or working my mind. Before I know it, my cuties are on their way home and it’s time for activities, homework and bed!
I could share a million tiny tips for organizing and getting your routine figured out. However, it comes down to what works best for you. I find it is best for our family to have a stocked panty, freezer, and a good meal plan above all. Having refreshing and good for you items, such as vitaminwater and vitaminwater zero from Giant Eagle on hand, makes our life so much easier on a day to day basis! It is great tasting and provides hard-working hydration, vitamins and electrolytes for the 24/7 hustle. We love all the flavors, and with so many, we have a good variety on hand at all times!
