Are you ready for “back to summer”?  We talk SO much about “Back to School”, but with the end of school upon us, I am focusing on getting back to summer this year with my family.   Summer break gives us a lot of time to spend together.  Although some days are crazier than others, I am always reminded that these times will pass quickly, and I need to step back and appreciate my family for who they are and who they are growing to be!  My older two are going into 8th grade next year!  I can’t believe it!  So I am savoring every chance I have with them during the summer.  With our new house and new patio, we will be doing lots of entertaining this summer.  So, I am ready to celebrate with these cute Back to Summer Party Favors!

Coke Hero

This year, we are going to celebrate the last day of school with a pizza night and some Coca-Cola™. Coca-Cola™  Yes.  That is a HUGE treat for my kids, and they especially love the mini cans.  I found some of the Coca-Cola™ mini cans at my local Giant Eagle with fun song lyrics on them.  I specifically picked up the pack that had “What I like about you” printed on the can, and came up with a fun way to start our back to summer with our kids! Coca-Cola™ has this new “Share a Coke and a Song” campaign, featuring song lyrics on their products.

I took each of their names and created a tag with what I like about each of them on it.  Did you know that  the Shazam App can help you find your perfect Share a Song?   You can download the Shazam App on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android and other devices to help you find your Share a Song!   Then, when we celebrate the last day of school with pizza night, I’ll put them out on the counter with their tag so they can read what I like about them as we make dinner together.  To make these, it was super simple.  So I want to share that with you today!

Pens, sharpies, or Silhouette Sketch Pens

Cutting machine or scissors

To start, I sized a tag in my cutting software to fit the names of each of my children.  I listed their name vertically, and after each letter, wrote something I like about them.

Once I moved to the Cut Settings screen, I selected the outer tag design and set it as “no cut”.  Then, I chose “Sketch Pen” from the drop down menu and my machine wrote their names and things I like on the cardstock.  Next, I replaced the pen with a blade, and set it at “1”.

I then went back to the cut screen, selected the tag as “Cut”, and the text as “no cut” and sent it through again.  This cut the outer edge for me, and that was it!

Using the print and cut feature on my Silhouette is super easy.  But, if you don’t have one, you could easily use fun scissors, stickers, and sharpies to make these tags as well.

Now we can start summer off with some fun new water toys, pizza night, and Coca-Cola™…..and a reminder of what I like about each of our children!  Are you going to celebrate summer and remind your family what you like about them?  I hope so!
