DIY 3D Wall Flowers

I had been wanting to make some of these pretty flowers for my daughter’s room for quite awhile, and I finally got around to it.  She, and I, absolutely love them! They were super simple to make, and even if you don’t have a Silhouette, you can still make them using a Cricut or maybe even a paper punch.  If you need to, you could even freehand them and cut them out of pretty paper.  I had pinned these from Positively Splendid, and they did turn out splendid!

Supplies:

Pretty papers (I used 12×12 sheets of scrapbook paper and cardstock)

Silhouette Machine, Cricut, Scissors

Flower Template

Paper clip

Ruler

Embellishments

Wall safe adhesive

Hot glue

Directions:

1.  Cut out the flower template in various sizes.  I used the trace function on my Silhouette to capture the outline.  Then I sized it how I wanted it and cut it. I sized it to three different sizes (small, medium and large).  Just kind of play with it until you have the right size.

2.  Using a ruler and a paper clip, score a line down the middle of your cut flower.  Turn it, and score a line the other way, making an “x” across your flower.  Fold your flower along the first line you scored, and then unfold it.  Fold your flower along the second line you scored.  Don’t unfold it this time.

3.  Keeping your flower folded in half, gently push the sides in, so they pop up like a flower bud.  Now, unfold the flower and it should look like it bloomed.  Note:  Don’t “bloom”  all your paper flowers.  You need some flat ones to help create the 3D effect.

4.  Using the hot glue, put a small dot of hot glue in the middle of a flat flower shape.  Glue a “bloomed” flower to this.  Allow it to dry and then add a bead, or other fun embellishment to the center.  Repeat this until you have as many flowers as you want.

5.  Mount your flowers to the wall.  I started with the larger flowers toward the bottom, and they sort of trailed off into the smaller ones as I made my way around the door.  I used photo splits {small adhesives used in scrapbooking} to mount the flowers to the wall.

I am swooning over these flowers!  I love the touch they added to my daughter’s room, and their shape matches the ones on her comforter perfectly!
