Classroom Christmas parties, family get togethers, dessert for Advent service soup suppers…..the Christmas commitment list goes on and on, doesn’t it? I find that when I make a dish that turns out to be easy and yummy, it becomes my go to for everything during a season. That is the case with these Chocolate Chip Christmas Cookie Bars. The one thing I love about them is they are made from ingredients I already have on hand all the time. Second, it makes a lot of bars, and they end up looking festive without being time consuming. You need to put these on your Christmas baking rotation!

Avocados are my favorite ingredient for summer dishes. On burgers, in salads, topping fajitas, or alongside my favorite Coca-Cola™ beverage in a dip or salsa-give me avocado, and I am a happy girl! This recipe is savory, yummy, and SO easy! I feel like avocados are always mushed up for guacamole, but it doesn’t have to be that way! This easy salsa has all the ingredients of a fresh salsa-and the avocados add a creamy, rich texture to it. So good! Today I am going to share my Chunky Avocado Salsa recipe with you-in hopes that it becomes a backyard favorite while you are partying with neighbors this summer!

Ice cream, pizza, you know….two of my all time favorite things! What better way to celebrate warmer weather and the ease of moving into sunny days than with a sweet treat? I don’t know about you, but my children are spoiled. Every night they have ice cream before bed as their night time snack. My husband grew up with this tradition, and when we were dating, I thought he was one lucky guy because his mom let them have ice cream nightly. Now, we have the same nightly snack in our house. Sometimes, we like to make it fun, like with these Deep Dish Mini Ice Cream Pizzas. I hope these make it into your warm weather snack line up!
Stromboli is always on the menu in our house. It is like a wrapped up pizza with a pesto sauce type base. Cheesy, fun to dip in pizza sauce, comfort food. Oregano, garlic, cheese…..the aroma is AMAZING! And the best thing, is everyone in my family loves it. It’s a party food, easy dinner food, snack….basically, it’s perfect for every occasion. You can fill it with whatever you want, and it will quickly become very prominent in your monthly menu rotation.

In my house, fall is synonymous with two things. First, football season and second it’s time to bake! Once the weather cools, it is time for relaxing Saturdays and Sundays, watching our favorite teams on TV…or if we are really lucky, in person. However, when we can’t get to the game in person, we do a little “home gating” and enjoy our favorite foods and fun right here in our living room. That being said, I also have three kiddos and a husband to feed during game time. So, we try to keep things fun, easy, and all about the team spirit around our house. While the coaches are sending in players, I am sending in Skittles® to add color and fun to our game time. That is where the Best Sugar Cookies Ever come into play!

Back to school…..means back to menu planning, routine, and making sure things are running easy and smooth around the Hurst house. Truthfully, as much as I love summer, I am ready for the routine and consistency that going back to school brings to our house. It’s a calm sense of order, and I am a better mom when my sweeties spend the day at school. Since I do have two teenagers, who need more than an apple after school for a snack, I need to have some easy ingredients on hand to make something satisfying to hold them over until dinner. These Easy Cheesy Pizza Pockets that I am going to share with you today serve that purpose….and can serve as a quick dinner or even something to add to their lunch boxes.

Summer means grilling in our house. That means a lot of beef burgers, hot dogs, fun toppings, and sweet treats. With our new patio, we are outside ALL the time, and really eat almost every meal out of doors. Without fail, weekend lunches and every evening we are grilling and eating outside. Today, I am going to share my Avocado Lime Hamburger Spread with you to add some great taste to your grilling recipes.
It is summer! Yay! We have been hanging outside and the Kool Aid and lemonade are flowing nonstop in our house. How about you? I like to have something a little more fun to drink with the kids for those afternoons when we are just hanging out on the new patio, playing with friends, and enjoying the sun. Plus, my mommy friends are often in the backyard, too. And even though we like a fun drink in the evening together, I’ve been serving this Sparkling Kid-Friendly Sangria, and it is a hit with everyone!

Are you ready for “back to summer”? We talk SO much about “Back to School”, but with the end of school upon us, I am focusing on getting back to summer this year with my family. Summer break gives us a lot of time to spend together. Although some days are crazier than others, I am always reminded that these times will pass quickly, and I need to step back and appreciate my family for who they are and who they are growing to be! My older two are going into 8th grade next year! I can’t believe it! So I am savoring every chance I have with them during the summer. With our new house and new patio, we will be doing lots of entertaining this summer. So, I am ready to celebrate with these cute Back to Summer Party Favors!
Legos are still a hot toy in our house. In fact, our boys are 12, and I often wonder if their love of Legos will extend into their adult lives. We are talking about boys who go to the library, find the non-fiction section, and come out with “How to Build…… from Legos”. They are entertained for hours in the basement on hot summer days, creating and building. Hopefully all this building, creativity, and brick building will serve them well in their careers one day.
