Well, said Pooh, “what I like best,” and then he had to stop and think. Because although eating
honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was
better than when you were, but he didn’t know what that was called.”
The very best part of our Disney World vacations for me is building the excitement in preparation for
the trip. The trip lasts, at best, 7-10 days, but for MONTHS we celebrate the coming event! Here are
some ways to build the excitement (as if we need to be any more excited!) and stretch the magic out a
–Register on the Disney World website and order your FREE vacation planning DVD. Have a DVD
viewing movie night with the whole family. Also, if you book with Destinations in Florida, and
request a DVD, they will send one!
–Plan a night to sit down with the whole crowd and order your customized Disney World maps on
the Disney Website. Go to each park and pick out your MUST dos. You should always have a list
of MUST Dos then, everything else will fall into place! Also, these customized maps make great
keepsakes to put in your scrapbook..and best of all it’s free!
–Download a Disney Recipe from one of the MANY outstanding restaurants on the property. Cook
your delicious Disney dish and decide which Disney restaurants you want to try on your trip.
(Remember, it is CRUICAL that you make advance dining reservations ASAP, 180 Days out from
–1 month out let the countdown BEGIN! Print a Disney Coloring Sheet for each day leading up
to your trip. Write on the sheet how many more days you have until the BIG DAY! This will be
precious in your Disney scrapbook.
–The night before your trip…Have a DISNEY BLOWOUT! We do this for EVERY trip. I pick up
cute Disney plates and table clothes from our local party store. We drink “Donald Punch”, snack on
“Goofy Dogs”, “Pluto Pretzels” and of course we have a small cake made featuring the main man,
Mickey Mouse! At this party, I give each of the kiddos a goody bag with a Disney Shirt for the ride
down and little toys I have picked up at the Dollar Store for our travel to Florida.
Get creative! The memories you make as you anxiously anticipate your Disney Vacation will be as
Magical as the ones you make on the trip itself!
