Disney’s Boardwalk Inn has claimed its space on my list of favorite Walt Disney World Resorts. This charming, turn of the century resort is beautiful, in a great location, and a great option for families who want to experience a Deluxe Tier Resort on Disney’s Boardwalk. Today, I am going to share our recent stay at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, and why YOUR family will love it as well! Hopefully it will make it onto your list of “favorite” Walt Disney World Resorts as well!
First, the location and transportation of Disney’s Boardwalk Inn can’t be beat! While the monorail is a prime choice for Disney transportation, the location and transportation options at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn are amazing! This Disney Resort is walking distance, or a water taxi ride, from TWO Walt Disney World theme parks. It has been said that you can walk to Disney’s Hollywood Studios from the Boardwalk faster than you can take the water taxi, and sometimes that is true. However, we opted to take the water taxi over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it was a very pleasant ride! Walking to the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT is also a prime factor in booking your stay at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn! You can also walk to the Fantasia Miniature Golf Course from here, making it a prime location for lots of good entertainment!
Along the lines of location, you can’t ignore the fact that Disney’s Boardwalk is brimming with excitement and activity day and night. I personally would not recommend you stay here if you want a quiet, tucked away resort. If you want a resort that has dining, entertainment, and the best ice cream on Disney property at your fingertips, the the Boardwalk Inn is definitely for you! There are street performers, Ample Hills Creamery, Bon Voyage Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno, an entertaining pool, and so much to do for your whole family! We loved returning to the resort at night to see the street performers, getting a treat from Ample Hills, and walking the Boardwalk with a great view of EPCOT.
Dining at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn was a bit to be desired in the Quick Service realm. There is a small QS location {The Boardwalk Bakery} with your basics, but we mainly visited it to refill our mugs. The main attraction for dining is the Trattoria al Forno restaurant. This is where you find the Bon Voyage Breakfast with Rapunzel, Flynn, Prince Eric, and Ariel. We had breakfast here on our “down day”, and it was fantastic! Plus, you are walking distance to Beaches and Cream and Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. There are some quick service kiosks along the Boardwalk that serve pizzas, burgers, etc as well. However, with the resort being steps away from World Showcase, your dining options really become endless!
The rooms at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn are pretty standard as far as set up. They have two queen beds and a sofa that converts to a twin size bed. Our room overlooked the grassy area where they held Movies Under the Stars and we could see the Boardwalk as well. It was SO pretty when it was lit up at night! We were a quick walk to the pools and the QS location to refill our mugs, as well as to the boat dock. Overall, our room was in a great location!
The atmosphere of the Boardwalk Inn is so magical! The Walt Disney World site describes Disney’s Boardwalk Inn as “the charm, whimsy, and elegance of 1940s Atlantic City”, and this is beyond true! From the Keister Coaster themed pool, to the carousel and rollercoasters in the lobby….not to mention the plank boards and entertainment along the Boardwalk, I would say this is probably one of Disney’s most well-themed resorts! The resort has a relatively small footprint, so it is easy to make your way around, and you aren’t walking FOREVER to get to your room. I also found that Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is one of the most well-kept and clean Disney resorts I have ever called home.
I think the thing that sets Disney’s Boardwalk Inn apart from the others is its location. This resort is a great option if you are focusing on enjoying the amenities of your resort, as well as the activities in the area…sprinkled with a few park days. You can walk or boat to most anywhere in that area in a relatively short amount of time. Plus, when you return from your day in the parks, or the afternoon for a break, there is so much to do! This resort is definitely a great choice for couples and families who want to continue the Disney magic after you have left the parks!
Great tips. Thanks!
Thank you for stopping by, Melissa!
This looks so fun! Thanks for the tips!
Thanks! It is such a fun resort!
We’ve been to Disney before but have never stayed on one of their resorts. I always wondered if it’s worth it or how to choose. Sounds like we should definitely plan on it next time!
There is nothing better than staying onsite! There are so many awesome resorts to fit anyone’s taste and budget!
One day I’ll stay there! I’m such an Epcot fan, it would be just perfect! Thanks for the tips.
Yes! The EPCOT resorts are fantastic.
Great review! Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is one of my favorites as well. I love being in the middle off all the action.
Thank you! It is in a GREAT location!
This is my favorite resort, hands down. I’d stay there every time if I could!
It is SO fun. And the location cannot be beat! I haven’t met and EPCOT resort I didn’t like. Ha ha!
This is definitely on my list of places to stay, especially after reading this!
I am like you….I need to stay at a different resort each time! But it’s so hard to choose! I hope you get to stay at the Boardwalk!
