The villain kids are back in Disney’s Descendants 2 on DVD beginning August 15th! Are you ready for Mal, Uma, and Evie and their sneaky ways around the Isle? If you have a villains fan in your house, you will want to be sure to add this to your back to school or Christmas list! I LOVE seeing Disney from the villain kids’ perspective. We loved Descendants in our house, and now Disney’s Descendants 2 is at the top of our list!
Our daughter, while still in a princess phase, is starting to enjoy villains, and some of the more “big kid” shows from Disney. Disney’s Descendants 2 is sure to bridge the gap between princesses and villains for your kiddos, too!
In Disney’s Descendants 2, Mal is the focus. She is sooooo tired of being royally perfect…or trying to be…and she just wants to run away. Like most teens, her biggest challenge is her relationship with boys, Ben in particular. So, she decides life is better on the Isle of the Lost, and she goes there to find some refuge and to do some thinking.
In true Disney fashion, Ben follows her and tries to talk her into returning to Auradon. her good friends Evie, Carlos, and Jay try to help. However, Uma, who you know as the daughter of Ursula, is not having it. She does have a thing for Ben, and she thinks this could be her chance!
Sounds like a typical damsel in distress? Well, maybe. But, there are some good turns and twists in this one as well. Not to be a spoiler, but as you get farther into the story, particularly the conclusion, be prepared for some surprises that I am sure you did NOT see coming!
As in Disney’s Descendants, Dove Cameron is fantastic, and in my opinion, steals the show. She is fantastic actress, and I hope to see more of her in Disney films. Also, I like how they bring in some of the princesses we tend to forget about. I love Mulan, and to see her daughter Lonnie, have a kick butt role in this movie, is awesome. It’s so true to the Mulan movie, and that strong girls can do amazing things!
My big thing with movies is the soundtrack. I want to have the songs in my head, or hear my daughter singing them over and over. Disney’s Descendants 2 is right on with that! “What’s My Name”, rapped by Harry, is awesome! And if you loved “Gotta Go My Own Way” in High School Musical 2, you’ll love “Space Between”.
Overall, this is a true must watch. It’s fun to grow up along with my daughter, and still keep Disney in our house!
