Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage is one of the few Walt Disney World experiences my family had never done. That was until my daughter and I embarked on a Mommy and Me Disney trip. I booked Pirates and Pals to celebrate her birthday. This trip was our chance to do a few things we had never done before, and for a lower price tag since it was just the two of us. This voyage does require advanced reservations, and you do need to pay in full when you book it. I had saved up enough to add this extra experience to our trip, so I went for it!
We arrived at Disney’s Contemporary Resort around 7:30PM. Wishes was scheduled for 9PM that evening, and the event starts at 8PM. We checked in on the lower level of the Contemporary Resort, and waited in the hallway. It was great. They gave us bandanas to put on, and there were coloring sheets, crayons, and photo opportunities with the pirate statues as we waited. It was a great, easy way to pass the time until they opened the doors. They assigned us our ship ~the Smee ~ and before we knew it, it was time to go!
We were welcomed into the ballroom by the pirate captains, Patch and Patch. And yes, they both have the same name! They were hilarious, starting the evening with jokes and lots of fun. We entered the ballroom to find tables filled with snacks and drinks. And I mean, filled. There was even a fully stocked freezer with Disney ice cream treats in it! We had the option of sweet and salty snacks, or of course both. There were cakes, cupcakes, fruits, bags of pretzels and chips, salsa and chips, and non alcoholic drinks. We snacked a bit, and then grabbed a few bags of pretzels and put lids on our drinks to take aboard with us. That is one thing I thought was super cool~as long as your drink had a lid and your snack was in a bag, you could take it on the boat with you. Perfect!
As we finished snacking, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee entered the room! We all lined up for a photo opportunity and meet and greet. I was so glad a MemoryMaker Photographer was there as well. That made it extra nice. After this was finished, it was off to the boats!
We boarded our Smee boat, and set out over Seven Seas Lagoon. They assigned us rows, and it was highly organized. As we were sailing, Patch led us in songs, had us introduce ourselves, recognized any celebrations, and told jokes. We took in some impressive views of the Magic Kingdom area resorts, as well as Magic Kingdom. It was just beautiful! Before we knew it, we were settling in for a nice view of Wishes. They piped the soundtrack over the speakers on the boat, which was awesome. I gotta say, I did cry a bit at the moment. It was just so sweet, snuggling with my girl, listening to Jiminy Cricket narrate, and watching the fireworks.
After it was over, we made our way back to the dock, to be greeted by none other than Peter Pan himself! There was another chance for a photo, but Natalie decided to skip it since we had just seen him at Magic Kingdom that day, and she was tired. So it was off to the Grand Floridian for bed!
Have you enjoyed the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage? If so, what did you think?
