On our most recent Walt Disney World vacation, we had the pleasure of staying in a 2-Bedroom Villa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. We don’t typically spring for a 2-Bedroom Villa, but since my parents were traveling with us, it turned out to be a great option for the seven of us. We try to stay at a different Walt Disney World Resort on each visit. Although I had my reservations about Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, looking back, it was the perfect opportunity to try it out! I’m going to share with you my Top Five Reasons to LOVE Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa!
Reason #1: The Two Bedroom Villas are amazingly spacious. I love, love, love the set up of the villas. When you walk through the door, to the right of the entryway was a full bathroom, and a bedroom with two queen beds. To the left was the living room with a pull out sofa bed, a TV, a fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances, and off of that was the small laundry area. Continuing on to the left was another full bathroom and a master bedroom with a king size bed. There was SO much room!
Reason #2: The boat or walk way to Disney Springs is so convenient. Our villa was located in the Springs area of the resort. So we were kind of toward the middle, very close to the main building. Following the path to Disney Springs for a nice evening out was so easy. We opted to do that multiple times, as opposed to taking the boat. We like to play a trip to Disney Springs upon arrival in Orlando, and the walk over there was perfect to stretch our legs after a long car ride.
Reason #3: Having a kitchen on vacation is nice. Now, that is coming from a girl who does not like to cook on vacation. Who also at the same time does not like to feed her kids junk and processed foods for an entire week either. So what is the happy medium? My thought was since we had a kitchen we were going to use it. Upon arriving we made a quick trip to the grocery to get some perishable items.
We had breakfast in our villa three times during our stay, and supplemented with a character dining for breakfast at ‘Ohana on another day. We also are very committed to going back to the resort for a mid afternoon break. So, we would have an early diner/late lunch mid afternoon before going for a swim or while waiting out a rainstorm. It was very very convenient! And, it saved us money and calories that we would have spent eating in the parks.
Reason #4: When traveling with older kids, the extra space is amazing. We do just fine in a standard room at any Deluxe Resort that will hold the 5 of us. However, as the twins are getting older, it is so nice to have that extra space to spread out as a family. They can have their own room and bathroom, we can take the master, and the little princess gets the sofa bed. Of the Deluxe Villa properties, Saratoga Springs prices lower than all the others, right alongside Old Key West.
Reason #5: It is actually closer to the parks than you think. This was my major concern with staying here. I am spoiled by our stays at the Beach Club and the Grand Floridian. So I was not excited to be so “far” from the parks. I was SO wrong! We requested a villa in the Springs area. I also asked for a ground floor villa, near transportation. The bus stop was literally a hop skip and jump away. The Springs was toward the middle of the resort, and we had short bus rides everywhere. The buses ran SO well, and surprisingly, Saratoga Springs is very close to EPCOT.
Overall, our stay at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort was awesome. So awesome we stayed there again for the night before our cruise. Although I would not consider it super high on the “kid appeal” list, my kids LOVED the pool and slide, and were excited to stay there again. So I think it is a great option for larger families, traveling with extended family, and anyone who is looking for the conveniences of home on vacation.
