Ok, so I had a “Why didn’t I think of this L.O.N.G ago?!” moments when I didn’t have enough powdered sugar to ice all of the cinnamon swirl bread we were having for breakfast. I had heard you could make your own powdered sugar…and I guess now was as good a time as any. I looked at the back of the bag I had just emptied, and low and behold, there were two ingredients in the Kroger powdered sugar I had bought-sugar and cornstarch. Are you kidding me! I can so do this…so I did, and I haven’t bought powdered sugar in forever.
*Get out the blender and plug it in.
*Measure a cup of granulated sugar and pour it in the blender.
*Blend it until it forms a powder.
*Then, add 1 to 1 1/2 Tablespoons of cornstarch. Blend until it is incorporated and it’s a nice powder consistency.
I start with 2 or 3 cups of sugar and add the cornstarch proportionally, and it is perfect for icings and glazes.
Seriously, so easy.
