LEGO Storage Solved!

LEGO Storage has become my latest task as a mom. So.many.LEGOs. With twin boys, we have a lot of LEGOS in our house, and it’s time to get a handle on them! LEGO storage has become my number one goal, and I think I have found a way to solve the LEGO Storage problem! I am going to share my best LEGO storage tips with you today!

LEGOS….you know how that goes! As soon as our twins started to show interest in LEGOS, we were inundated with them! But, the creativity is fabulous, the storage not so much! When we realized we had too many LEGOS to handle, we decided some storage was in order! This is our favorite way to organize and store these classic building pieces!

LEGOs are amazing. Let’s be real, the idea of small bricks that transform into an amazing structure with just a few steps is pretty awesome.  How many of you have said the following:

  • “It’s so great to see them be creative.”
  • “Wow!  Those are a great way to keep my kids away from watching tv and video games.”
  • “Yea, we just got the NEWEST LEGO set…..”
  • “If I step on one more LEGO, I’m throwing them all out!”
  • “We REALLY need to find a better way to store the LEGOS.”
  • “These LEGOS are taking over our toy room!”

Guilty. I have said all of those things!

LEGO Storage can be so overwhelming! This is a great idea for getting them organized and easy to find. #LEGOstorage #homeorganization #toystorage

I am sure we have all been there, done that, right?  Our LEGO storage has progressed slowly in our house, and now I think we’ve finally found a solution.  But before I show it to you, let’s have a moment-a blast from the past shall we-of our evolution of LEGO storage……

The LEGO shelf {which was originally a shelf my husband had built to store our canned goods when we lived in an apartment}…..not working, no way.  This slowly evolved into this super cool LEGO organizer-but we quickly outgrew it because some of our LEGO sets are currently living like this……

We have even resorted to just piling them up!  And now, there is this!

Plus, how cute are the LEGO men and their small parts in their Star Wars tackle boxes?  This is a super easy way to manage all the small heads, bodies, and other important pieces.

As you can see, we have tried nearly every technique of LEGO storage we can think of!

However, and as an organizer at heart, this is making my skin crawl!  We have finally found a way to get them all in one place, color coded, and everything thanks to IKEA! Using the Trofast system, and my Silhouette Cameo, we are now organized!

We invested in the Trofast System from IKEA.  I cut out some letters with my Silhouette, and adhered them with some Mod Podge.  We decided to sort by color, and I left two bins unlabeled-one will probably be for People Parts and the other one {a larger size} for sets that they’ve built but aren’t quite ready to take apart. Isn’t it beautiful?  And so simple! I wish I had started this system when they first were into LEGOS.  It would have made our life so simple!

Do you feel overwhelmed with LEGOS?  What is your storage solution?

The good news is a year ago I sold 13 garbage bags full to a neighbor for $300. You should of seen the mountain in their playroom. Needless to say I don’t miss them at all! thanks for linking up!
