Hi! I’m Laura from Peace but Not Quiet, sharing an autumn kids’ activity with you all!
This book — Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert — is one of our fall time favorite Fall Reads. It’s imaginative, and beautifully illustrated with pictures of different “leaf beings.” The leaves in the book are from actual species of trees and it’s such a unique idea. This guy is my favorite:
Hah! The Leaf Cow! How can you not love the leaf cow?!
So we read this book many times during the fall, and sometimes we can’t help ourselves and need to go create our own Leaf Men when we’re finished.
We find ourselves some leaves:
and lay them out to make our Leaf Creature:
Then I add a little glue to the underside of the leaves, just to keep them in place.
Once we have the leaves where we want them, we spread clear contact paper over the top, to finish off the project.
So many possibilities! Leaf animals, people, landscapes. Taking a leaf walk before getting started is a great way to get everyone outdoors and appreciating the fall weather.
