We have an Easter egg hunt at church next Sunday, and I wanted Natalie to have a special basket for her first church Easter egg hunt. I had seen some cute ideas online, and in some catalogs…but I knew I could make something just as fun for her. So, I picked up a basket at the Dollar Tree…and turned it into an Minnie Mouse inspired Easter basket. I actually used her Minnie Mouse tutu that she had worn for her birthday for all the supplies. It was just hanging in her closet, and I didn’t foresee her wearing it….plus we had several inches of snow on the ground and I wasn’t going anywhere to get tulle and ribbon.
Minnie Mouse Inspired Easter Basket:
Supplies:
*Basket
*Ribbon, tulle {cut into strips}
*Glue dots/hot glue
Directions:
1. Measure your ribbon to match the perimeter of the basket. Using a glue dot, attach one end of the ribbon to a corner.
2. Cut your tulle into 8 inch strips, or so. Mine were quite a bit longer from her tutu, so I just snipped off the long ends as I was tying.
3. Start tying the tulle on the ribbon you attached to the basket tutu style. As you work your way around the basket, add a glue dot, or hot glue, to the basket edge. I added mine in the center of each end, and on the sides as I got to them.
4. When you’ve finished tying the tulle, add some bows to each side, or wherever you want them to go.
5. Wrap the handle in coordinating ribbon {mine is wrapped in Minnie Mouse Ribbon}.
Done! I love the transformation of this simple Dollar Tree basket into something my daughter loves!
