We have our family photos timed almost perfectly. You see, Natalie’s birthday is at the end of October. So, under the excuse of getting her birthday pictures taken, I drag the whole family along for photos. It’s perfect timing…right after school pictures for the boys, and in plenty of time to get a good photo for Christmas cards.
I hope for the best…we’re in a small, warm, cramped photo room at Target. I am armed with snacks, extra outfits, patience, and a lot of hope that everyone will last as long as it takes to get some great photos. Thank God for quick shutters on cameras and photographers who are willing to make fools of themselves so my kids will smile.
But….what to wear? That’s my struggle on a daily basis, and although our closets are well stocked with outfits for practically any occasion, finding something that coordinates is always a challenge.
Let’s face it….Natalie is the star of our show. Is that what happens when you are the only girl and your brothers are six years your senior? I guess so. Honestly, my main goal was for cute 2 year pictures of her….and high hopes for the rest of us. We ventured into Target, dressed for a potentially great family portrait.
Our color scheme was based around Natalie’s green corduroy Gymboree jumper. It has bright pinks and oranges as accents.
Mom wore: White button up shirt, gray 3/4 sleeve cardigan, dark wash jeans
Dad wore: Bright pink J. Crew button up with white stripes and dark jeans
The boys wore: Matching pale pink and white striped Children’s Place button up linen shirts and jeans
All these were meant to compliment her jumper and striped shirt.
This is our family photo for our Christmas card….and it doesn’t look a bit like Christmas :). I do that on purpose, because we also order prints to hang in our home and for family members. I don’t want them to display them in their homes and only see Christmas clothing in them, so I try to make our outfits “timeless” and classic.
How do you dress your family for pictures?

That is a great photo. I love it that you can admire it all year without worrying that it is too festive!
I was just about to shut down my computer and go to bed-glad I was able to link up here first!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
