Sick days…we all have them, right? I mean, why is it when the calendar says it is officially winter, all of a sudden the germs decide to manifest themselves? The kids are JUST back to school from winter break….and you have the house to yourself….and BAM! You have the crud and you are laying on the couch for a few days. With three kids, we have good chance of the yuck coming home from school. Add that to the fact that I am a work at home mom, and am not exposed to a lot of people, my immune system is not as strong as it used to be! So today, I want to share with you some “sick day survival”, and the Top 10 Flicks to Check Out When You are Sick on the Couch.
First, you need to stock up on some sick day essentials, and have them handy. In the thick of cough and cold season, I like to make sure I have some feel good things on hand to soothe my symptoms. I tend to pick these up BEFORE the cold season starts, so I have them on hand. There is nothing worse than going to Kroger when you are sick! Right?! Thankfully, you can find these in the “cold/flu” aisle. Aside from the tea….that you find right with the other tea products in the store.

Second, you need to get some good movies to watch while you are sipping your Lipton Daily Support Herbal Tea. This one is my favorite in the line of the Lipton Wellness Range. Top 10 Flicks to Check Out When You are Sick on the Couch:
~ Ferris Bueller’s Day Off ~ If this is not the ultimate in sick day movies, I don’t know what is! Whether you have seen it before, or not, it is for sure one of my favorites. It’s funny, and you’ll want to watch it over and over again. If you are going to be sick on the couch, you may as well be laughing!
~ The Greatest Showman ~ This musical is a “feel good” story about PT Barnum and his journey to create the circus. It’s full of good life lessons, and is an all around spectacular show. You’ll be singing the soundtrack in your sleep! Speaking of sleep…..that’s where the Theraflu Power Pods Daytime Severe Cold come in handy! They help alleviate your minor aches, pains, and other cold symptoms so you can rest.
~ Home Alone ~ This classic plays over and over during the Christmas season, but it’s such a good one! Plus, if you have kids around when you are home and not feeling well, this makes a very family friendly movie to watch. When Kevin McAllister’s family leaves him home alone by accident, he has to fend off some burglars in a creative way! The Abreva® Pump Cold Sore and Fever Blister Treatment is a creative way to fend off the cold sores that like to rob your mouth of comfort. And, it’s not just temporary relief, but rather it is proven to heal cold sores, and heal them fast!
~ Love, Actually ~ When you are feeling down and sick, you need a romantic comedy on the list. This is the perfect one to warm your heart on a cold, dreary, sick on the couch day. The characters are lovable, and it reminds you how important it is to show your loved ones, and yourself, that you care about them and YOU!
~ Mary Poppins ~ If you have been around my site and social media, you know I am a HUGE fan of Mary Poppins. Even if you aren’t feeling practically perfect, this movie will remind you that a little self care isn’t a bad thing….and when you care for yourself, you can care for others! As Mary emerges onto the scene of the Banks Family Household, perfectly magical things start to happen! Similar to when Emergen-C Immune+® Super Orange emerges to help support immune system! Emergen-C Immune+® is an excellent source of Vitamin C and Vitamin D and with Zinc to help you feel good!*
~ Pretty Woman ~ Although not family friendly, this is one of my all time favorites! When Richard Gere and Julia Roberts “hook up” in an unconventional circumstance, love certainly starts to bloom! This story has love, drama, and a feel good ending. Making you feel better all around!
~ The Parent Trap ~ Another good, family friendly movie to put on while you snuggle with your littles on the couch. Whether you watch the classic version with Hayley Mills or the updated one with Lindsay Lohan, it’s a winner! I love this movie because the story line is sweet, and it doesn’t involve a lot of thinking. When I am not feeling well, the less I have to think, the better! Plus, my favorite part is when they set the trap in the cabin with the honey! Classic scene! And you can set a trap for your cough symptoms with the Robitussin® Maximum Strength Honey Cough & Chest Congestion DM. This is the real honey you want, the powerful cough relief you need. Gluten Free. No Artificial Colors. True Source Certified Honey. (Please note- Theraflu & Robitussin should not be used at the same time).
~ Inside Out ~ Need a good cry for mom and a good movies for the kids? Then this is it! I love the themes of this movie, and the lessons it can teach. Even though it is a “kids” movie, I feel like as adults we can learn SO much from this!
~ The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe ~ Did your older kids catch the yuck, too? If so, then this is a great one to watch together! And if you are feeling adventurous, watch all of the Narnia movies! The scenery is gorgeous, the characters are relatable, and they are just classics!
~ Clueless ~ What is a “sick day” movie list without a 1990’s movie? This one is so funny, is a “no brainer”, and brings back good memories of high school!
What are your “go to” movies when you aren’t feeling well? I’d love for you to share them in the comments!
