Sparkling Snowflake Front Door Wreath

Every year at Christmas, our house gets a nice little makeover.   We put up our gigantic tree in the living room, decked with white, red, and silver ornaments.  Then the upstairs tree goes up, with all the kid ornaments, as well as the sentimental ones.  The mantel is decked with the nativities, Christmas Village, and garland.  And then there’s the front door.  I LOVE making wreaths for our front door.  But, I like them to last awhile.  For Christmas, I tend to make a more “winter” wreath, and when I saw this snowflake made from popsicle sticks on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it!  My Sparkling Snowflake Front Door Wreath turned out great!

Supplies:

Jumbo Craft Sticks {36 of them}

Mod Podge or spray adhesive

Glitter and glitter spray paint

Super glue

Directions:

Paint your sticks with silver or glitter spray paint. I went the glitter route.

When they have dried, spray them with the adhesive and sprinkle them with glitter.  I put the glitter on pretty thick.  Shake off the excess glitter.

Arrange 6 sticks in an asterisk.  From there, start designing your snowflake.  I laid mine out about 3 or 4 times to get it perfect before I started gluing.

From the asterisk, I followed the rest of the tutorial on Crafty Nest to create mine for the door.  I added a sparkly blue ribbon and it was done.

I absolutely love it!  I will say, it is HUGE.  But, it looks impressive from the street, and has held up very well.  I had originally glued it with hot glue, but after a few days, some of the pieces started falling off.  So, I reattached them with super glue.  I would suggest starting with the super glue if you can~it’ll save you the time in having to reattach it.

I am so excited!  I think this cutie will last us through most of February~at least that’s the plan until I’m ready to add a spring wreath for March.  What is on your front door?
