Happy Travel Tuesday! Yes, it’s #traveltuesday on social media, and I am going to share with you some Must Dos for Preschoolers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Did you know that there are so many fun attractions at DHS for the little ones? Our older two LOVE Star Tours, Jedi Training, Indiana Jones, and I could go on with all the fun the older boys have. But, our little princess enjoys Disney’s Hollywood Studios just as much!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is perfect for families with younger children because you can easily tour it in one day. This even includes taking a swim break! And, if you are park hopping, it’s a great “half day” park toward the end of your trip after you’ve already devoted one whole day to it. We like to go back and hit our favorites again! Let’s look at the 10 Must Dos for Preschoolers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set. This ginormous fun play set is perfect for the kids of all ages-but our little one loves it especially! It is perfect to let her enjoy this while the older two are with dad on Star Tours-it’s relatively close to Star Tours. The giant Play Dough, larger than life blades of grass, and the fun slides give her lots of space to run off steam, and gives me some great photos!
Disney Jr. Live on Stage. If you have a little one who LOVES Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, you’re in luck. Disney Jr., Life on State is a MUST DO for the younger ones in the family! As a side note, there aren’t actual seats in the theater-you sit on the floor. But the little ones are up dancing, catching bubbles, and enjoying the puppet show-Disney style. These aren’t your normal hand puppets. They’re Disney puppets, and they’ll sing your favorite songs, do short episode snippets, and your little one will get an up close and personal look at their favorite TV characters.
Toy Story Midway Mania. I would be amiss if I didn’t include TSMM in my list! One thing I LOVE about Disney is that many attractions are perfect for the whole family-the little ones included. Even our little one dons her 3D glasses and tries to get as many points as she can along the midway. Plus, the queue is one of my favorites on all of Disney property. There are so many fun things to look at, and the Mr. Potato Head makes it extra special!
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage. Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage is awesome for the little preschool princess in your family. All our favorite songs from the movie, and the classic love story, take place in about 30 minutes. We like to grab a snack, find a seat, and rest a bit while we enjoy Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage.
Play and Dine at Hollywood and Vine. This is the Disney Jr. character breakfast or lunch experience. Handy Manny, Jake, Sofia the First, and Doc McStuffins make their way around the tables to meet and greet their little biggest fans. The meal is buffet style for both breakfast and lunch. The characters are there for breakfast and lunch only. If you want to dine with Disney Jr., this is your only option on Disney property.
Meet Disney Characters in the Magic of Animation Building. I think this is one of those “hidden gems” on Disney property. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is, in my opinion, the best place to meet characters. We discovered this large indoor area of characters upon accident one trip-and now make it a point to visit every time! We’ve seen Winnie the Pooh, Sorcerer Mickey, Chip and Dale, Goofy, the Incredibles, Frozone, Ralph, Venellope, and more characters here. I love it because it is inside, they are spread out around the area, and the lines are fairly low. Plus, some of the more “hard to see” characters are often in here.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Another great show for the little preschool kiddo in your family. You really feel like you are under the sea and the extra touches at the end are fantastic! It’s a perfect rendition of the Little Mermaid, and my little one enjoys seeing Ariel go from mermaid to human live on stage. The special effects are awesome-but be aware, Ursula is huge! You might want a seat toward the back if your little one is a bit unsure.
Muppet Vision 3D. This is one very entertaining show! Kids of all ages, but especially the little ones, will enjoy this. And, as a parent, the nostalgia of the Muppets is something I love, too! The animatronics are great, and of course most of the jokes go right over their heads. BUT, it is still super fun and cute for everyone in your family. It makes a nice alternative to Voyage of the Little Mermaid, especially if you have boys in your family.
Animation Academy. My daughter, at age 3, loved this. She loved sitting on the stool, holding the pencil and trying to follow along with the Imagineer. Granted, this is better for the older kids in your family, but your preschooler can participate, too. You are led step by step how to draw a Disney character, voted on by the audience. It really is fascinating to see you creation at the end. Plus, it’s a great FREE souvenir!
FROZEN Sing a Long and Wandering Oaken’s FROZEN Snowground. To be honest, we have not been to Disney’s Hollywood Studios since they opened these attractions. But rest assured, we will be getting our FROZEN fix in May! I name these on the 10 Must Dos for Preschoolers because they are the ones who will belt out Let it Go, and enjoy the snow at Wandering Oaken’s FROZEN Snowground. What kid doesn’t want to play in snow and build a snowman in Florida?!
So there you have it, the Must Dos for Preschoolers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Is there more at DHS for the little ones than you thought? Have you enjoyed Disney’s Hollywood Studios with a young child? I’d love to hear about it!
