8 Tips for Visiting Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the most immersive area in all four of the Walt Disney World theme parks. When you walk through the tunnel into Batuu, it is clear that you have entered another galaxy. This 14-acre “land” in Disney’s Hollywood Studios attracts millions of visitors each year. From the time it opened in 2019 until now, it is incredibly popular-and for good reason. If you are visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios on your next trip, you will want to make time to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. And today, I am sharing 8 tips to make your visit unforgettable!
Every day, Star Wars fans make their way through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Even “non” Star Wars fans will find it enjoyable-and I speak that from experience. Having been to Batuu a few times, and not being a huge Star Wars fan, I can see why it attracts visitors day after day to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While it is a “small” area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can spend SO much time there, and having a plan is key!

The theming of Galaxy’s Edge is top notch.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set on the Black Spire Outpost. This remote port is found on the planet, Batuu. As you enter the land, you are immersed in the environment of Batuu immediately. The signage is in “Batuuese”, the paths wind you through the outpost, as you make your way into the land. It is designed with you as an explorer in mind!

Don’t miss Star Wars; Rise of the Resistance.
Quite possibly the biggest draw to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is Rise of the Resistance. It is AMAZING! Star Wars; Rise of the Resistance is the headliner attraction in Galaxy’s Edge, and really at the top of the most popular attractions in all of Walt Disney World. Rise of the Resistance truly puts you inside the Star Wars universe.
Rise of the Resistance is probably one of the most ambitious attractions Disney Imagineers have accomplished. It is an unforgettable battle against the First Order. This attraction does offer Lightning Lane Single Pass. To ride it with a lower wait, then you will want to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass so you can access to it without having to wait in line.
Plan to ride Millennium Falcon; Smugglers’ Run later in the day.
The typical advice is to “rope drop” a headliner attraction. However, when it comes to Millennium Falcon; Smuggler’s Run, that may not be the best course of action. This attraction actually sees longer waits in the first hour or two that the theme park is open. So if you can wait unitl later in teh day, that is ideal. Even better? Book it as a Lightning Lane attraction on Disney Genie+.
Smuggler’s Run is a flight simulator, and you are assigned one of three roles. Whether you are the pilot, gunner, or engineer, you will be prompted to push the proper buttons while you are riding the attraction. You aren’t really given a choice in your role. So if you want something different, you could work it out amongst your immediate travel party. Or, ride several times and hope you get a different role!

Oga’s Cantina is a “must do” in Galaxy’s Edge.
If you are going to Galaxy’s Edge, you HAVE to go to Oga’s. Keep in mind, though, that while it takes reservations, it is NOT a sit down restaurant. That said, I would not consider it little kid friendly, personally. It’s a cantina, and is mainly standing room tables. The club like atmosphere, loud music, and the menu housing mainly drinks makes it more “adult” in my mind. I have seen guests bring children, but I do think it is more geared toward older teens and adults. The drinks are amazing, and the antics of the Cast Members make it super fun!
While the drinks are great, you are definitely paying for the experience. They do take reservations, and also offer a walk up queue. Also, most times they have a 45-minute limit for guests to enjoy the cantina. This keeps things moving, and is kind of nice if you are someone waiting for a spot inside.

You will feel like a stranger in a far off land-but in a good way.
The idea of Batuu is that you feel lost and like you are wandering a strange area. This just adds to the fun! It’s designed to be explored as if you are on a strange planet. Try to embrace the feeling of being “lost”! Don’t feel bad if you feel “lost” on Batuu. That is part of the immersion and the theming!
The food in Galaxy’s Edge is incredible.
If you are not taking time to enjoy the unique, incredible food in Galaxy’s Edge, you are doing yourself a disservice! The main Quick Service location is Docking Bay 7, right next to the Millennium Falcon. Docking Bay 7 serves all 3 meals of the day, and it’s worth experiencing breakfast and then another meal!
If possible, sit inside the restaurant, because the theming is amazing. The food is not only made to look very exotic, but it also is quite good. I personally love the Tip Yip Endorean Salad, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. If you need dessert, the Batuu Bon – a chocolate cake dessert – is my first recommendation!
Also while in Galaxy’s Edge, you must try the Blue and Green Milk. I know, at first my reaction was there was no way I was trying it. But it’s so good! It’s not actually milk–it’s more like a frozen, fruity drink.

Merchandise is a big deal in Galaxy’s Edge
There are at least 9 merchandise locations in Galaxy’s Edge. This makes for exclusive, magical shopping for any Star Wars fan! The two most popular merchandise / experience locations are Savi’s Workshop and Droid Depot. They are also the most costly.
Building a Light Saber at Savi’s or a Droid at Droid Depot is an experience in and of itself. You are not just shopping-you are building. And Disney brings out all the magic with both of these experiences. They both involve a ritual process, created to fulfill the dreams of any Star Wars fan. I have never heard from anyone who was disappointed in either experience. When I took our then 17 year old twin boys to Orlando for a quick graduation celebration, building at Savi’s was the entire reason we went. They LOVED it, and as the observer, so did I.

The roaming characters 100% add to the experience.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge does not have any traditional Disney meet and greets. The characters roam and interact with guests instead. While there are staged meet and greets in other areas of Hollywood Studios, don’t expect them in Galaxy’s Edge.
You CAN expect to see plenty of Storm Troopers, Kylo Ren, Ray, and Chewbacca. The Storm Troopers are our personal favorites, because they interact so well with guests.

Visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is truly like stepping into another world — one filled with adventure, incredible details, and moments you’ll never forget.
