Does your family enjoy the Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park? We certainly do! This spectacular show is the most popular live show in all of Walt Disney World! The costumes, the music, the energy…this show has it all! And now that The Lion King has returned to DVD/Blu Ray as part of the Walt Disney Signature Collection, I thought it was a great time to share with you Five Must Dos at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
First, let’s talk movie details. I love this version of the movie! Why? Because it has The Lion King: Song Selection Feature. I don’t know about you, but I want to belt out “Hakuna Matata” whenever I hear it! And now, I will get all the words correct! Plus, my older ones love the behind the scenes footage that shows how the characters are created.
This story follows the adventures of Simba, the lion cub who cannot wait to be king. Not without some challenges along the way, he soon takes his rightful place as the king of the Pride Lands. This beloved story has become such a Disney classic, and sharing it with a new generation of Disney film lovers is perfect as we head into fall and start to cozy up to watch movies as families. The Lion King roars into its rightful place in the Walt Disney Signature Collection on DVD/Blu Ray on August 29th.
Are you headed to the Walt Disney World parks soon? If so, check out my Five Must Do’s at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park:
Must Do #1: The Festival of the Lion King, of course! There is no way this show would not make my list of things to do at Animal Kingdom. The show lasts about 30 minutes, and you will see guests in line to enjoy the next show almost all day. But don’t despair! This attraction does accept FastPass Plus, and the seating area is huge-approximately 1500 seats all around the stage area! The sights, sounds, costumes, and energy of this show cannot be matched. Our family sees this early in our day at Animal Kingdom! It gives us a high energy start to our day!
Must Do #2: Kilimanjaro Safari. No trip to Animal Kingdom is complete without a ride on a safari tour. There is nothing like it in all of Walt Disney World, and you see something different every time! Our personal favorites are the giraffes! We love to see animals existing with each other in their habitat. Disney has done such an amazing job of catering to these exotic animals! You can even get some great, up close photos of them. Enjoy the safari early in the morning, as the animals are out and about when it is cool. It is also amazing at night. Now that Animal Kingdom has extended hours, riding the Kilimanjaro Safari in the evening can be a unique experience!
Must Do #3: Finding Nemo the Musical. Right at the top of my favorite shows at Walt Disney World, is Finding Nemo-the Musical. I had been to Walt Disney World 6 times before I finally made time to see it….you know, I was seeing the Festival of the Lion King every time before that! Anyway, Finding Nemo the Musical is fantastic! The story is so heartwarming, and I love that the benches in the theater have backs. I know, it’s the little things. The props are amazing, and I love how they put the show together. Knowing the entire movie takes place in the ocean, that stretches the creativity muscles to put it on a stage! But Disney does it wonderfully!
Must Do #4: Meet Disney Characters at Adventures Outpost. I know, you can see Mickey and Minnie in all the Disney parks. But, they are so cute in their safari costumes! This meet and greet is definitely one of my favorites. They have great interaction, the space is a good size, and the background makes a cute photo! We loved this meet and greet, and it’s definitely a unique one.
Must Do #5: Kali River Rapids. This whitewater raft ride, spinning freely down a river is a thrill ride that our family LOVES. We don’t mind getting wet on a hot Florida day. However, my advice is to enjoy this attraction as you are leaving the park for an afternoon break. You do get absolutely soaked! Another option is to pack a change of clothes, and store your dry clothes in a free 2-hour locker. These are found very close to Kali River Rapids. It’s a great use of a Fastpass, too!
I know, no Pandora attractions! I have not enjoyed them yet, but in 21 days I will! I am sure those are must dos, too! But for now, keep the Disney’s Animal Kingdom magic alive at home when you pick up a copy of The Lion King on DVD/Blu Ray beginning August 29th!
