Why I Love Homemade Sangria
Sangria, typically in the white form, is my “go to” drink at a restaurant. Not every restaurant serves sangria, but if they do, I am ordering one…or two. I love the flavors, and I am a sweet wine kind of girl. Since discovering how much I love it, I have been delving into the making of my own, and wanted to share this Christmas Cran~Apple Sangria with you here! I tend to share more baked goods and main dishes….not as many drinks. But this one I thought was worth sharing!
The beauty of Sangria is that you can really throw it together with whatever wines and fruits you have on hand. This one, I wanted to change it up a bit and mix red and white wines together. When doing so, using a wine similar to a Chardonnay or a Pinot is your best option for the white. And then for the red, a Cabernet Sauvignon is a great option. Both of these pair well together, and keep the sweet factor low since you are adding fruits and sugar to your sangria as well.
I just can’t stand how pretty this is! I love the fruits floating amongst the rosemary, and the deep Christmas red color.
Christmas Cran~Apple Sangria Ingredients:
- Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio Wine
- Cabernet Sauvignon Wine
- Cranberries
- Granny Smith Apples
- Sugar
- Sparkling Apple Cider
- Rosemary Sprigs
Making Cran-Apple Sangria is Easy
This cannot be simpler! In a large glass pitcher, combine all the ingredients together and stir well. I like to mix it up the day before, but you at least want to mix it about 4 hours before serving so the fruits and wines can party together before you drink it. Refrigerate it until you are ready to serve it. Be sure to scoop out some of the fruits and add a few rosemary sprigs when serving! Also, you can grab a few bags of frozen cranberries while they are on sale over Thanksgiving and stash them in your freezer for this Christmas drink.
It really can’t get easier than soaking some fruit in your favorite wines and calling it a cocktail, right? Christmas drinks aren’t just eggnog and peppermint…this is perfect to keep on hand as you celebrate this amazing Christmas season! Serving this sangria in your pretty holiday stem glasses, or even some DIY wine tumblers will make it extra special for your get together!
This recipe makes a lot, which is super awesome! That means you are spending less time refilling the drinks in your serving area, and more time with your guests.
