DIY Fall Moss Wreath & Fall Front Porch Tour
It’s fall here! Yay!!!! Pumpkins, leaves, cool weather….pumpkin spice and more pumpkin spice. My favorite time of year. I love the Christmas holidays, but I really think I love to decorate for fall even more than I do for Christmas. I know, I just said that out loud! But, really…..the small, simple touches that fall decor brings to our house makes me so happy! Today, I am going to share my DIY Fall Moss Wreath that I created!
Decorating our front porch for fall is my favorite. I love, love, love the mums. Add to them some pumpkins, and we are happy people. One thing I always have on our door is a seasonal wreath. 99.9999% of the time, it is handmade, and this fall I attempted a moss wreath. I was so intimidated at first, thinking it would be a huge mess. But, I was so wrong, and I love the end result. Like most everyone, I am really reaching for that farmhouse, vintage look to our decor lately, and I think this moss wreath helped me accomplish that look. Even though I love the fall colors of red, oranges, and dark yellows, a little bit of green in the mix makes it look fresh.
DIY Fall Moss Wreath Supplies:
*Sheets of Moss {I found mine at JoAnn’s}
*Hot Glue gun and glue sticks
*Foam wreath form
*Embellishments {Check mine out below}
*Vinyl Cutting Machine
*Heat Transfer Vinyl, iron or heat press
Since it is “almost” Christmas, all the fall decor was on sale, and I scored a cute burlap bow that I added to the bottom of my wreath as a finishing touch. I also wanted to add some text to my wreath, so I found this piece of canvas and added “GATHER” to it. Cute, right?
I was intimidated about using the moss. I thought for sure it was going to be a huge mess. However, they sell sheets of moss, and so it was easy to cut into strips and wrap my wreath form with it. I was done in a matter of minutes. Just some hot glue, and strips of moss, and done!
Next, I had found this fun piece of canvas with wood on each end. I immediately thought I could HTV that. Using an easy script font {Milkshake}, and some free leaf cut files I had, I made my entire “GATHER” project out of HTV scraps. I attached it to the center of my wreath with some hot glue.
I really feel like the DIY Fall Moss Wreath came together nicely. I think it’s one of those things that when you start working on your fall decor, you suddenly find so many ways to bring the colors and theme of fall into your home. Check out the rest of our fall front porch decor. I went with the layered doormat look {so super easy to pull together!}, some mums, and pumpkins, along with a few existing decorating pieces we have.
This wreath hangs on our front door, and nicely pulls together the other aspects of our porch. I decided to try the layered doormat idea….which I LOVE! And added some pumpkins and mums to my existing WELCOME sign and now our porch is welcoming for fall!
