my Favorite StyleTech Craft Fall Projects:
This month, I am excited to share my idea for a DIY “Hello Fall” Mason Jar. Decorating with Mason jars is so easy, and budget friendly! With a few coats of paint, some vinyl, and a few embellishments, you can have a pretty mantel decoration or centerpiece in no time! This technique is easy and can be used for a variety of seasonal decor.
Supplies for a DIY “Hello Fall” Mason Jar
- Quart Mason Jar {or 2}
- Chalk Finish Spray Paint
- StyleTech Craft Chrome or Metalized Vinyl {Rosy and Brushed Gold Chrome}
- Silhouette Cutting Machine and Design Software
- Transfer Tape
- Weeding Tools
How to Make a Give Thanks Fall Mason Jar
- First, give your Mason jar a nice, even coat of the chalk paint. I love that spray paint comes in chalk finishes. I think that is the prettiest finish, and gives it a homey look.
- TIP: Paint the jar upside down to get completed coverage without getting paint inside the jar.
- While your paint is drying, it’s time to set up your cut file. Open your design software to a new design screen.
- Then, using one of my favorite files, I set it up on my design screen. Sizing it at about a 3.5×3.5 square is perfect for one side of your jar.
- Next, line your vinyl up on your cutting mat, and load it into the machine.
- Choose the correct cut setting, and send it to cut. After this is cut, trim the design from the larger piece of vinyl. Then, weed the excess.
- Making sure your chalk paint is dry, gently go over it with a micro fiber cloth to get any debris off of it. I highly recommend making sure your paint has dried for 24 hours before attempting to put the vinyl on it.
- Place a piece of transfer tape over your design, and gently press over it to make sure it’s sticking. Turn it over, and starting at a corner, gently peel the backing off so the adhesive side of your design is exposed.
- Center your design on your jar. Next, using your fingers, or a scraping tool, press firmly and go over the transfer tape so all the air bubbles are out, and it’s stuck tightly to the jar. Then, starting at a corner and on an angle, gently peel your transfer tape off the design.
Adding vinyl on mason jars is an easy way to make some quick and pretty decorative DIY “Hello Fall” Mason Jar for your home. This simple technique will have you adding these jars all over your home!
