DIY Panda Valentine Box

Creating a super cute DIY Panda Valentine’s Day box is so much fun. I love how you can take simple supplies and create something adorable to collect your Valentine’s! Today, I am going to share this easy DIY Panda Valentine’s Day Box I found while perusing Pinterest.  It seriously can’t be easier!

Valentine’s Day is about as fun with festivities and activities as Christmas in our house! Baking my favorite Valentine’s Day M&M Cookies, making DIY Valentines, and the ever popular Valentine’s Day Box just makes me so excited in the middle of winter!

I just get so darn excited when it is time to make a Valentine’s Day box.  Maybe it’s because I get to use my Silhouette Cameo.  Or, it’s something my kids and I can work on together.  I often have these grand ideas…and then the finished product isn’t quite what I was hoping it would be. Anyone else?  

Shortly after the new year, my daughter and I start talking about her Valentine’s Day box.  To note, she is obsessed with pandas, so a panda Valentine’s Day box was at the top of her list!

It took a quick trip to Pinterest, and my craft stash, to see exactly what we can execute. That is where I found this ADORABLE panda cut file for a V-Day box, and I knew it would be so, so cute!

Valentine’s Day is coming so quickly!  I can’t believe the cuteness I am seeing on Pinterest as we move from Christmas crafting straight to Valentine’s Day!  The twins are older now, so middle school isn’t exactly the place you take a valentine box.  But, our princess is only in 1st Grade, and this is the first year she gets to create her OWN Valentine’s Day box for her class party.  In Preschool and Kindergarten, the teacher incorporated it into a classroom project, but First Grade is when she gets to make her own box!  Yay!

We were originally going to use the Owl Always Love You file I had cut with my Silhouette Cameo to make an owl Valentine’s Day box.   So we were all good with the owl theme….until she saw this Panda Valentine Card Box as I was perusing Pinterest.  I hopped over to Artsy Fartsy Mama, and saw it was an easy cut file to download, and I was sold!   I know Lindsay, aka the “Artsy Fartsy Mama”, is super talented with her cutting machine, and I was SO excited to find the file ready to download!  

How to Make a DIY Panda Valentine’s Day Box 

Choose a box, about the size of a cereal box.  With kids giving out more than just cards in school for Valentine’s, I wanted it to be something on the bigger side.  As I was sorting out boxes from Christmas, I thought this one would be perfect…..because it already had a slit cut in the top!

Cover the box in white paper.   Our box had housed an American Girl Doll desk, so it had slits cut in it in various places that I wanted to cover, and I didn’t want to mess with paint.    I sprayed my box with spray adhesive and covered it with a 12×12 sheet of white paper.   The box is already white, so I just covered what I needed on both sides and kept it easy.  

Download the Panda Valentine’s Box file from Artsy Fartsy Mama.  If you are using a Silhouette Cameo, set the cut to Cardstock and adjust your blade accordingly.

After you have cut and separated your pieces, assemble them like a panda face on the box.  I used a glue stick to put our pieces on.  We also added a bright pink bow to her ear….my daughter wears a bow everyday to school, so now the panda fits her personality perfectly!

This project came together in literally minutes!  It is super cute, and she can’t wait to take it to school for her party!
