Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs is the newest addition to the “moderate” resorts at Walt Disney World. Gran Destino has become a very popular resort, and for good reason! I am excited to share my experience and tips from my stay at this Walt Disney World Resort with you!
The “new” 15-story tower of Gran Destino adds a charm and elegance to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This gorgeous Walt Disney World Resort falls into the Moderate Resort Category, but it is full of all the deluxe vibes! Gran Destino offers a fresh, sophisticated resort option for families and business travelers. It is complete with special Disney touches all throughout!
The Lobby of Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs
The grand lobby greets all guests upon arrival at Coronado Springs. Anyone, regardless if they are in the tower or the Coronado area of the resort checks in here. The lobby is glorious.
First, the decor of the lobby is stunning. Having stayed at many of the Deluxe Disney Resorts, I can tell you that it feels deluxe as soon as you step inside. The music is relaxing, the color palette is beautiful, and the whole area is welcoming.
Not only is it stunning, it is set up well for productivity. Coronado Springs has long had the reputation of a “convention” resort, so the set up is perfect for business travelers. The lobby has large and comfortable workspaces for guests to work and meet with others. There are expansive tables, little nooks with comfortable chairs, and small tables in the lower area.
The lower level houses the Barcelona Lounge, where guests can enjoy breakfast and coffee in the morning, and cocktails in the afternoon or evening.
The Guest Rooms at Gran Destino Tower
Following the most recent “refurbishment” style, the rooms at Gran Destino are beautiful and set up for functionality. They have hard wood floors, and under bed storage.
The rooms aren’t Disney themed, but you do find some Disney touches throughout. The “wow” factor with the rooms stems from the fact that they are new, and have the clean and modern feel to them. Let me say, the bathroom is stunning!
The rooms have quite a bit of storage and functionality as well. The closet has shelves, as well as hanging space and shelves inside. The dresser/desk area also has several drawers, and each nightstand has nice drawers as well.
The bathroom is set up as a split set up with a sliding door. The toilet is in its own stall, with a door. Then the sinks and shower are in the entry area. So nice! Not only is it functional, but the bathroom is just stunning.
The room is equipped with all the regular amenities. Toiletries, hair dryer, beverage cooler, Keurig, ironing board, etc. Plus, the very long desk area is perfect to store your daily park items and to get some work done if you need to!
Dining and recreation at Gran Destino
The dining options at Gran Destino, in my opinion, are more grown up. The Barcelona Lounge, Toledo, and Dahlia Lounge are perfect for adults. I think the short walk to El Centro makes it SUPER easy to access the various options at Coronado Springs as well. I found myself having breakfast at Rix Sports Bar, and grabbing dinner and quick service options at El Mercado quite often.
Guests of Gran Destino have access to the Dig Site, the huge pool area at Coronado Springs. Gran Destino itself does not have its own pool, which I find surprising. However, it does have a large lawn area with nice seating, a fire pit, and large chess and checkers for guests to enjoy.
Overall opinion of Gran Destino
Overall, I loved it and would absolutely stay there again. The bus transportation ran really well to and from the parks, and this resort is centrally located, in my opinion. I could see both Spaceship Earth and Batuu from my room. Not to mention the gondolas. Someday, maybe Disney will add Skyliner as an option. I could see it working!
I do think the overall ambiance is more grown up. It does work for families, and thankfully guests of the Gran Destino have access to ALL the resort, including the dining and amazing pool. The Dig Site area is FANTASTIC, and perfect for families. The pool is giant, the waterslide is SO fun, and they have a very nice playground area. Not to mention the sand volleyball and ping pong tables. The pool bar at the Dig Site also meets needs with basic food offerings and fun sodas and drinks.
I do not think families should shy away from Gran Destino. I love the deluxe feel, the rooms are great, and I prefer the interior hallway to my door opening to the outside.
The main “down side” is that El Mercado does not offer Mobile Order. They do have a very large menu, and you can get almost anything. But I prefer Mobile Order since I think the food is fresher that way.
Gran Destino Tower is gorgeous, day or night. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, and it is definitely worth considering on your next trip!
