Peach Streusel Muffins

These peach streusel muffins are the perfect sweet snack!  The sweet, crunch streusel topping tastes just like grandma’s, and it goes perfect with an afternoon cup of coffee or tea.

I have to confess, muffins are my favorite little bakery treat.  If I have a choice between a muffin or a cupcake, I will always choose muffins. I have shared several amazing muffin recipes here on the blog, but these are so unique.  Peach isn’t really a flavor that comes to mind when I am baking muffins. It’s reminds me of late summer, early fall.  Those nights that we wish were a little longer, but we are also thankful for the routine that comes with fall. The streusel topping.…so good, and somewhat old fashioned, right?  There is so much goodness in these!

The in season freshness of the peaches is key. It can make or break the flavor! While you can use canned peaches, you likely won’t get the fullest flavor.  Even so, make sure you drain the juice.  I prefer the fresh peaches, though.

Ingredients for Peach Streusel Muffins:

1/4 cup butter {softened}

1/3 cup sugar

1 large egg

2 1/3 cups flour

1 Tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups fresh peaches, chopped and peeled

Topping:

1/4 cup sugar

3 Tablespoons flour

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 1/2 tablespoons chilled butter

Directions for Baking:

1.  Beat the softened butter, sugar, and egg until creamy and well incorporated.

2.  In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt.  Add the flour mixture, alternately with the milk until everything is mixed well.

3.  Gently stir in the peaches and vanilla extract.

4.  Prepare your muffin tin by lining it with paper liners.  Spoon the muffin mixture into the lined muffin tin, filling them almost to the top.

5.  In a small bowl, mix the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and chilled butter.  It should look crumbly.  Sprinkle the topping evenly over the muffins.

6.  Bake at 375 for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

While I chose to omit it, a nice vanilla or powdered sugar glaze before serving could really make them extra special. These buttery, tender, peach muffins are perfection.

These are not an overly sweet muffin, everything works together perfectly to give you an outstanding flavor and texture.  I wouldn’t change a thing, it’s just to good.   I am certain you are going to love these moist, delicious, peachy treats! The cinnamon and sugar topping make them perfect with your favorite coffee!

  1. I love anything with the streusel topping! I did cherry muffins with streusel topping and it was amazing. I’ll have to try the peach, for sure!
