Seven Days of Love for Your Kids
Valentine’s Day tends to be overshadowed in our house. The boys’ birthday is on February 15th, so we are usually knee deep in birthday preparations or parties on Valentine’s Day. But, I still want to show some extra sweet love to the boys, and Natalie, during the month of February. We started the 14 Days of Love on February 1, and we’ve been going strong every since ! Although, we are still a week from Valentine’s Day. But, I wanted to share this with you, in hopes that you can start this fun tradition in your house for the next 7 days. On Valentine’s Day, we’ll culminate with a gift card to their favorite place as an extra special treat.
A friend of mine, who is also a Silhouette addict, posted these on Facebook. If she had a blog, I’d so give her credit! But, my friend Alicia shared this idea and now I’m blogging about it for you! You can find these adorable mailboxes at Target in the Dollar Spot. So, there you go. A great reason to go to Target ASAP! And when you see them in person, you’ll see that they are just so bare….and of course in need of a little vinyl! Thank heavens for the Silhouette Cameo, and it’s ability to cut ANY image! I downloaded some images and got to work. I will say, the weeding of the R2D2 and the Lego Ninjago figures was very tedious. In fact, my sweet hubby helped me with those!
Now, each day leading up to Valentine’s Day, I put a nice note of encouragement, a Bible verse, or a small trinket in their mailboxes. The kids are loving it! And, the oldest of the twins, even gets into it. He went straight to his room and created a Fun Loom bracelet for his little sister to put in her mailbox. It’s so sweet to see our kids interacting kindly with each other, and the excitement that comes from simple things like lip gloss, socks, erasers, etc. showing up in their mailboxes everyday!
Creating these Days of Love Mailboxes is a great way to get started with your Cameo. You can even get so simple and cut plain hearts from vinyl, and maybe their names, to put on them. Although, I’m sure once you get started, you wont’ be able to stop. No cutting machine? The stores are full of Valentine’s Day stickers and embellishments right now! I’m positive you can find something to add to these cute mailboxes and start your Days of Love with your family!
