The Pirates League at Magic Kingdom

With the swish of a sword and a quick Pirate oath, your child can transform into a pirate, empress, or mermaid at the Pirates League in Magic Kingdom Park. We have been transformed twice at this fun Adventureland location, and today I wanted to share my tips for the  Pirates League in Magic Kingdom Park.  We have experienced both the Mermaid and Empress makeovers, and they are each so much fun! Before you know it, you will be touring Magic Kingdom with a pirate in tow….or maybe even a mermaid!  Plus, this post is part of a fun Disney blogger loop, so click on at the end of the post to get some more magical Disney tips!

First, book your makeover 180-days in advance…or as soon as possible. The Pirates League may be one of the best kept secrets at Walt Disney World, but you still need a reservation.  While it may not be AS hard to get into as the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, don’t delay on booking your desired time and day. It can especially be difficult to get a reservation here during Mickey’s Not So Scary, as a lot of guests {like us} want to use the Pirates League as a way to dress for the Halloween Party.

The Pirate’s League is a fun experience for the entire family.  That is right!  Even the grown ups can get a pirate makeover here.  In fact, we got matching Mermaid Makeovers on our first Mommy/Me Disney trip.  I have to say, it was SO fun.  And to be honest, a great value. The make up stayed on for a long time, and we were perfectly happy with our Halloween “costumes” for the party that night.  Adding this fun touch for both of us gave us the opportunity to make some fun memories together, and we know Disney is all about making memories and bringing stories to life.

The Empress Package is perfect for your girly pirate.  We went in with the intention of Princess getting another mermaid makeover. However, upon seeing the Empress Package option on the menu, she was sold!  She immediately changed her mind, and it ended up being a super cute, girly version of a pirate.  Perfect for my girly girl with a tough side!  Plus, this option prices well, and the experience is just as fun! She looked super cute as we made our way around Magic Kingdom, and even had a fun interaction with Tinkerbell later in the day as we met her on our way out of the park.

The Pirates League prices well for an “extra” during your Disney trip.  There are a lot of “extras” that you can add into your Disney experience, and before you know it, your budget is a little over the top. However, I feel as if the Pirates League is a great experience and reasonably priced “extra”.  The packages start at $30 and top out at around $80 or so, depending on if you add costumes. You get your makeover, make up, hair done, accessories, and the experience for a good price.  It is a great way to spend an hour or so in Magic Kingdom. Plus, later in the day they can come back and participate in the Pirate Parade in Adventureland.

The Pirates League is a fun, memory making experience. Upon arrival, your kiddo chooses a pirate name. This is generated when they roll the dice, spin the wheel, and give their birthday.  Then, they sign the Pirate book and are taken to their makeover chair.  From there, the pirate takes over and transforms your child {or you} into a pirate! You certainly feel as if you are in the hull of a pirate ship!  After you are finished, they take you to the “secret” treasure room, where you get your medallion and a few photo ops.  In the past, they did not allow photos in this room.  However, they do as of late 2018.

The Pirates League is great for everyone.  I think this is a great alternative to the boutique.  The Mermaid Makeover looks amazing with an Ariel, Cinderella, or Elsa costume.  Plus it is a bit cheaper. Then, when your children are not as “into” the characters anymore, but still want something extra, the Pirates League is perfect.  The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will take children up to age 12.  However, some kids are out of the “princess” phase well before that, but still want a little extra Disney fun.

The Empress Makeover was perfect for my girly, princess, pirate girl. Plus, afterward, we had a whole day in the park to show off her makeover.  We got some great photos in Adventureland, and it made our lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table a little more fun.
